How the pallet calculator works

Enter your carton dimensions and quantity and pick a Euro (120 × 80 cm) or industrial pallet (120 × 100 cm). The calculator tries both carton orientations per layer and keeps the better one.

The maximum stacking height sets the number of layers, which gives cartons per pallet and – via the total quantity – the pallets and pallet spaces you need.

Loading meters (LDM) follow the freight standard: 0.4 LDM per Euro pallet, 0.5 LDM per industrial pallet. A standard trailer holds 13.6 loading meters, from which the calculator shows truck utilisation.

Calculating pallets by hand – and retyping paperwork by hand?

If you calculate pallets, you probably also juggle delivery notes, CMR waybills and fuel receipts. myFRACHT turns a photo of them into verified, structured data – the paperwork vacuum for freight forwarders.

FAQ

How many cartons fit on a Euro pallet?
It depends on the carton size and stacking height. The calculator first works out cartons per layer on the 120 × 80 cm footprint (the better of two orientations) and multiplies it by the number of stackable layers up to the maximum height.
What is the difference between a Euro and an industrial pallet?
A Euro pallet measures 120 × 80 cm, an industrial pallet 120 × 100 cm. The larger industrial footprint holds more per layer but also takes more space in the truck: 0.5 instead of 0.4 loading meters.
How many pallets fit in a truck?
A standard trailer offers 13.6 loading meters – about 33–34 Euro pallets on the floor (not stacked). The calculator shows the loading meters used and utilisation relative to 13.6 m.
What are loading meters (LDM)?
A loading meter is one meter of floor space across the full truck width (2.4 m). The industry rule of thumb is 0.4 LDM per Euro and 0.5 LDM per industrial pallet, making mixed shipments comparable and freight cost calculable.
Does the calculator account for weight?
Yes, optionally. Enter a weight per carton and a maximum weight per pallet and the calculator also caps cartons per pallet by weight – the lower of the volume- and weight-based limits then applies.
